Meet your Practitioner
Jacob is a professor at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine and the founder of New York Mobile Acupuncture. Prior to launching New York Mobile Acupuncture, he owned and operated Treasure Valley Acupuncture, a prominent integrative clinic in Boise, ID. After selling the clinic in the Winter of 2023/24, Jacob joined the faculty at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine, where he currently teaches and practices. He is well known by his patients and students for his immense passion for digging at the root cause of illness and his heart for patient care.
Jacob specializes in chronic and recalcitrant conditions such as Lyme disease, parasitism and autoimmunity. He has worked in clinics all across the country providing care for a wide variety of patient demographics ranging from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, to the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California, to the high desert of Idaho’s Treasure Valley region, to right here in New York City. Throughout this range of experience in practice Jacob has had the opportunity to work with countless unique cases.
He has worked in the field of integrative medicine since 2012 and has completed studies alongside leaders in the field of 5-Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Jacob attended Virginia Commonwealth University for a BA in Religious Studies, Five Branches University and Virginia University of Integrative Medicine for a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Virginia University of Integrative Medicine for a Doctorate in Acupuncture. He has also received training in bio-resonance and frequency therapies. His unique treatment style utilizes a blend of classical acupuncture and modern integrative medical techniques.
Jacob is no stranger to what it’s like being a patient. Through living a life of exploring, adventure and hard training he has found himself “on the other side of the table” many, many times. In fact, it was his experience of navigating the valley of Lyme disease as a teen and the life saving care from an acupuncturist Jacob received that set him upon the path of integrative medicine.
perspective & Approach
“Thank you for your interest in New York Mobile Acupuncture! I am extremely grateful to get the opportunity to do what I love each day, which is work with others as they navigate the process of healing. Starting at a very young age it became apparent that I had an affinity for connecting with others. As a child I was curious about people’s stories - who they were, where they had been and what they had been through. As I grew my ability to connect, empathize and see what was happening with the person in front of me developed. Sensitivities that I now consider a gift were at times difficult to navigate but thanks to the supportive environment I was raised in, I was able to stay open and grow.
I found AIM (acupuncture & integrative medicine) at a time in my life when I was very deep in the valley of Lyme Disease as a teen. I was worried I would not survive but thankfully I landed in the extraordinary care of an acupuncturist and was able to recover. I emerged from this experience with a strong desire to do two things. The first, to help others regain their health the same way I had been helped. The second, to dig at the root of disease and work to understand how sickness & imbalance occurs in the first place. It also afforded me a firsthand perspective of what it’s like to face the physical and mental challenges of a chronic and unrelenting disease. That personal knowledge has been clinically invaluable over the years in my efforts to reach patients who are dealing with chronic illness, often misunderstood and frustrated.
It also provided me with firsthand knowledge of what it takes to fully heal from something serious. This process is often much slower and more demanding than anyone initially hopes for and requires a level of acceptance we often don’t think is possible. Despite the immense challenge of physiological set backs, they ultimately have the potential to leave us transformed in a positive way. Over time, through personal and clinical experience, I’ve come to see how difficulties of the body, mind and spirit can be potent catalysts for growth & personal evolution. It is my professional mission to help each patient use their health challenges for exactly that.
In order for this process to begin it’s critical that steps of supporting physical and energetic health are taken. This is where healthcare options come into the picture, and there are many, each inspiring in it’s own right. I chose this specialty for a reason, based on my own personal healing success with it as a patient and then clinical outcomes I repeatedly witnessed as a junior intern. When weighing out which approach to healing one should take the only metric that matters is: results. The results must speak for themselves. I am certain that modalities like acupuncture, herbal medicine, AIM lifestyle guidance and bio-resonance prove themselves time and time again, and it is my deep honor & passion to share this medicine with others.”

Family and fun
Jacob and his wife have a daughter, whom was born at their home in Idaho on a chilly Fall morning in 2022. They named her Nova. A nova is a giant star; An extraordinary source of light that burns with intensity. May we all access the full potential of our inner light, the super nova that resides within each of us.
When not in the clinic or studying Chinese and integrative medicine, Jacob can be found either spending time with his family, training jiu-jitsu or enjoying time out in nature.
